About us
Prayatn is a voluntary organization working for the disadvantaged sections of the society since 1992. It is a registered Public Charitable Trust, set up with the objective of empowering the marginalized by building up their capabilities for a decent, dignified and independent life. Participation of community in developmental projects, strengthening community structures, building the capacities of its staff and beneficiaries and collaboration and networking for resource mobilization with other partner NGOs and individuals, donors, funding organization, briefly sums up all its activities. Committed to improving the communities, Prayatn’s programs are integrated and holistic take into account practical realities. It is not uncommon for the staff to work with different generations of a family, across various programs.

Our projects span across multiple domains of health education and women development. We strive to create a better future for the underprivileged section of the society. Health
Prayatn is involved in community health promotion through health education, creating awareness and providing information Health education will also be made available at individual level and to parent’s group and community. Health education is an ongoing activity carried out during O.P.D. medical examination, immunization, in the prayer meeting, in classes or in assembly hall.

Prayatn’S Educational initiatives focus on completing the primary school cycle through its three schools and Continuing Education beyond Primary School by offering scholarships to meritorious students. . The Educational intervention of Prayatn is aimed at creating low cost quality educational institutions in slums/resettlement colonies of Delhi.

Women Development
Prayatn with support from Azim Prem ji Foundation initiated a project Addressing gender based violence in communities since July2019. The three year project was to conclude in june2022 but not only it was extended for three months but with the addition of several new components and extended outreach, the project Addressing Gender Based Violence in Communities by Comprehensive Care and Support to Women Survivor has been approved for a period of five years from October 2022.
